Happy New Year! To You, From Me

Tag: Entertainment, holidaysMouthyGirl @ 7:46 am

Oh boy what a year 2008 was. A lot changed for our family in this year, my family added two new members and nearly lost one and are so thankful that we didn’t. While there were good things in 2008, there were a few things I’m happy to leave behind. Bring it on 2009!

This coming year my son will be 12, I will be 30 and looking onward a new decade. In this coming decade a lot will happen in my life and hopefully as well in 2009. Here’s to what’s coming up! :)

I hope you all have a relaxed day full of pleasant memories and maybe a drink or two. Don’t drink and drive, and have a safe new years!

Cheers!

I got this link in my email this morning and decided I couldn’t come up with anything better to lead us off into the new year.

But before I post the video, I wanted to say thank you for reading, I hope this last year provided memories that you will always cherish and that the next year brings you much love, joy and personal success.

Happy New Year!

Sincerely,

Sabrina a.k.a. MouthyGirl

See You Tomorrow!

Tag: Curious, LifeMouthyGirl @ 8:59 am

For the longest time when I started working at my current job, I would stop in the morning at a corner store here. Every morning. I was drinking that Monster energy drink daily at the time and stopped to get it there each day. When I broke the habit of drinking those, I started getting grief from the store owner because I wasn’t coming in as often. His usual, “See you tomorrow!” became, “wrong time! wrong time! we don’t see you in the morning no more?” and so on…

At first I took it with a smile, thought it was nice that he was so friendly, yada yada. But then one day it struck me that I didn’t owe him my business and it started getting on my nerves. It’s one thing to be friendly but it’s a whole different thing to be annoying and act like someone should be patronizing your business every day.

I got so annoyed with it that I hardly go anymore. I stopped in this morning because I needed a drink for later in the day and he was polite and asked after my family. Nice, but I think fortunately and finally I’ve fallen into the different category of shopper. The occasional shopper. He did ask me if I drink coffee and I said no (one of his tactics to try to get me there each day, for free coffee).

I do drink coffee, but I don’t want it from his store because I don’t know how fresh it is. The coffee I have at work I make, so I know how fresh it is, and it’s how I like it, and it’s also free.

Have you ever decided to stop shopping somewhere because of something the staff has done?

Holiday Cheer and the New Year

Tag: Curious, Entertainment, Life, holidaysMouthyGirl @ 7:17 am

Well, I had a great week, I only really had one day off to relax, but that’s okay. I saw a lot of family and we don’t spend near as much time together as we’d like so that was a good thing.

All the children in the family are of course growing and getting cuter every day, it’s amazing to see.

2009 is upon us and in three days we will greet a new year and begin to lay plans for it.

Have you made any resolutions yet for the new year? If you have what are they?

I saw that cheesy commercial for Weight Watchers, David Lee Roth’s ex wife I forget her name, where she talks to the camera about 2008 being the first year she doesn’t resolve to lose weight and then 2009 being the second year. She gets all emotional, yada yada. So cheesy.

I haven’t made any resolutions yet, except one really and that’s to go back to school.

:)

My family was excited to hear that I’m going back, and I’m sort of excited about it too. It’s time to finish what I started, and better sooner than later.

For those of you that went to the movies over the last week, what did you see? How did you like it?

But the burning question is…..what’s in store for your 2009?

What do you do traditionally on this day? Some of you start your gift exchange on this day, have you opened any gifts yet?

What were they if you have?

I am writing this on Sunday and if I know me, as you read this I still haven’t gone shopping. :D I dig the last minute thrills and chills.

If I get some cool stuff for the little guy I may let him open one a day early, we’ll see, but for now, tell me what you’re up to today…

The Duggar Family and Excessive Procreation

Tag: Curious, Life, Love, Mouthy Girls, Opinion, SexMouthyGirl @ 4:16 pm

We are a nation of excess, we eat too much, drink too much, party too hard, stay up too late, get up too early, commute for too long and all sorts of other things we do “too much”. But I have a particular beef with what I call excessive procreation. I’m of course, talking about the Duggar family. The Duggers are of the “Quiverfull” belief system, described below:

Quiverfull is a movement among conservative evangelical Protestant Christian couples chiefly in the United States, but with some adherents in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, England, and elsewhere. Its viewpoint is to eagerly receive children as blessings from God, eschewing all forms of birth control, including natural family planning and sterilization. Someone of this persuasion might call themselves a “quiver full”, “full quiver”, “quiverfull-minded”, or simply “QF” Christian.

The name of the Quiverfull movement comes from the Old Testament Bible verses in Psalm 127:3-5.

Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD:
and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man;
so are children of the youth.
Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them:
they shall not be ashamed,
but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.(emphasis added).KJV

Being “fruitful and multiplying” as per God’s wishes in the bible? I, personally, don’t know one single woman - not one - who would want to bear 18 children. But, none of the women I know are believers in this movement nor do they adhere strictly to the biblically mandated role of wives and mothers as “bearers of children” and “workers in the home under the authority of a husband”.

I refuse to believe or adhere to a biblical policy that states I must be subserviant to another human being. Not gonna happen. I was born strong willed and I will die strong willed and during none of that time will I be subserviant.

Most of the women I know have families, jobs, ideas, and goals of their own. Apparently these “quiverfull women” as I will refer to them, have decided consciously to let their husbands do their thinking for them and let God be their birth control.

One question…….What if there is no God?

Yeah, I said it….what if? What if that bible they so happily adhere to and mind, was just a work of fiction by some very serious pranksters? What if we are indeed a product of evolution? What if there is life on another planet? Would that dissprove God? How is that explained in the bible?

One aspect that must be considered is the strong male slant in the bible. Do you think God created us all equal? If he did then why are women supposed to be nothing more than “bearers of children” and “workers in the home under the authority of a husband”? Tell me why God would want ANY of his people subserviant to the another? This is why slavery is and was so wrong!

Additionally, there is speculation in the scientific community that the lights in the sky described in the bible and the Chariots of Fire and the Burning Bush were all a product of extraterrestrial beings? So many what if’s and no answers…

What do you think?

Holiday Parties at Work

Tag: Curious, Entertainment, Just FunMouthyGirl @ 6:34 am

Some of you have already attended a holiday party, some of you have yet to, and some of you won’t at all. My boss doesn’t do a holiday party but in April at some point he’ll have a crawfish boil like last year. Unfortunately last year it was on my birthday April 5, this year it’ll probably be on a Friday again so it won’t be on my birthday. If it is, he won’t see me there, lol.

I went to my husband’s holiday party with him however and we had a fair amount of fun. There was gambling with play money and an open bar - my favorite part. The gambling was fun, I played Blackjack and won a few hands, it was fun though. I can’t imagine playing with real money though, I just wouldn’t have as much fun I think.

But I hold my liquor well, I get a little more animated of course, and a little less inhibited, but I’m extremely modest, so even when I’m less inhibited I’m still quite under control. Thankfully, there are those less fortunate than I, are you one of those? Do you have any funny stories to tell about a holiday function sponsored by an employer where you or someone else embarrassed themselves? Tell us all about it… ;-D

Have an iPhone? Try the reject of all PDA’s, the Dash…

Tag: Mouthy Girls, OpinionMouthyGirl @ 4:12 pm

Never have I ever been so irritated with a phone I paid so much damn money for. I paid for what should have been like a small pc when I got this phone, you know what I got? A PIECE OF SHIT!

I defy you to prove me wrong.

I can only have a 2 gig micro sd in it because it won’t read anything bigger, it constantly tells me my memory is full and all I have on the damn thing is Google Maps and BT Audio, so um PULEEZ! Too full?

What’s worse is that hubby has a wing and a coworker has a Blackberry so you know I’m feeling like I got the short end of the memory stick.

You see it all started when I got the idea that it would be really cool to blog from my phone. So I call up my lovely T-mobile and talk to a rep, who is supposed to be in the know.

SUPPOSED TO BE.

She should’ve known that I would only get pissed off by this phone, not enjoy it. I have more limitations than I do capabilities.

So word of advice, if you’re gonna drop a few hundred on a PDA (even though now they’re giving the piece of shit away) don’t buy the Dash.

Buy the damn iPhone, like I wish I had.
