Wendy’s Weekly Take

This weekend Congress finally passed the economic stimulus package. In an effort to appease Republicans many of the most “objectionable” parts of the package were taken out. Tax cuts for businesses were added. In the end it got 3 Republican Senator votes and zero House Republican votes.

This weekend John “the fundamentals of the economy are strong” McCain went on State of the Nation and basically said the president wasn’t being bipartisan enough. I see it this way, John, Obama extended his hand, but the Republicans couldn’t unclench their fists. And John, its not just me who says that. It’s the majority of Americans who think that way according to a recent Gallup poll. And you know what else? Arlen Specter, one of the three Senate Republicans who really thought about “Country First” and voted for the stimulus says that more of your party would have voted for the Bill, but you guys are worried about your political careers. C’mon John, its clear you don’t have a backbone..you’re taking orders from Rush Limbaugh.

And your buddy Lindsey Graham said this weekend that we should consider nationalizing banks. I’m confused, you guys don’t want the government involved in helping to create jobs but you’re okay with government taking over the banking system? I don’t know, that sounds an awful lot like Socialism. (wink, wink you betcha).

Anyway, John, next time you say my President isn’t being bipartisan enough, I think it would be best if you took a good long look in the mirror. Pot. Kettle. Black.

  1. I know I’m personally saving up my cardboard boxes and plastic wrap, so I can make me a cardboard mansion if SHTF.

  2. Hey Wendy,

John McCain has no credibility any more, he proved that when he chose Sarah Palin as his presidential running mate, thus his comments are not taken serious anymore. All the republicans can harp on at this time is tax cuts, tax cuts, and that’s fine and good if you have a job, however, there are tent cities sprouting up all around our country where people have lots jobs, lost their homes, no more unemployment income, yeah right, these people need a tax cut, hell they need jobs, thus the stimulus package. Also what amazes me, these republicans bitching about the democrats spending never voiced concerns when they were giving George Bush blank checks and driving our deficit through the ceiling. Keep up the good writing Wendy, and I’ll check out your take on the world next week.

  3. The Republicans need to come to grips with the fact that their party lost. Lost because they through together a ticket that was meant to muddy the waters and was way to maverick-y, look I can see Rooshia from my bock porch.

My president is not going to kowtow in anyway to the Republican party.
