Monday Morning Mojo Happy Birthday Sis!

Tag: Contests, Entertainment, Just Fun, Life, Love, Monday Mojo, Mouthy Girls, VideosMouthyGirl @ 5:30 am

Today is another Monday, Columbus Day even, which is a day that we celebrate Christopher Columbus discovering the “New World” that would come to be the country we know and love today. I won’t tell you how old she’ll be but she is my older sister.

This week will be very eventful as not only is it my sister’s birthday today, tomorrow my new nephew will be born. One of my younger sisters is going in to have a C-section and we’ll have another addition to the family.

Yesterday, my family, my sister and her family and my Dad and Stepmom all went out for lunch. It was fun, and it’s always nice to spend time with family. We get caught up in our own lives and sometimes forget to stop and get together to catch up. Before you know it the kids are grown and we’re wondering where the time went and reminiscing about when gas was under $1 a gallon. Those were the days.

We are counting down to our cruise on November 1st, getting excited, a little nervous. I’m a little shy. Hey don’t act so surprised, it’s easy to sit down and type out my thoughts and share with you what’s going on in my life, because you don’t have a face when I’m typing, you do when you comment and begin to interact with me here, but until then, I’m just writing to Wordpress. Any further thought beyond that I’m afraid would produce the problem of writer’s block. So the idea of meeting people and sitting with strangers at dinner and all that kind of has me a little wierded out.

So in honor of my older sister getting older today, here’s a song for her.

Ha Ha!

Here’s a song that is special to she and I because it was always a song that reminded us of our little sister..

Finally, a song for my nephew…

I love that song, it’s very true to how I feel about my son, and nieces and nephews. Life has so much to offer that you can’t help but hope that they get to experience the absolute best of everything, and the least experience of pain and trials possible. As children we often underestimate the harsh realities of adulthood because our parents, rightfully, try to shield us from their trials, the things that make them worry. All too often as youngsters we were so busy looking forward to the freedoms of adulthood that we forgot the freedoms of childhood were right in front of us.

Additionally, this weekend I added a few things in the administration panel of MouthyGirl.com to make galleries easier and to add polls to the sidebar, so polls will become a regular sidebar item. They’re a great way to find out what you think without asking for a lot of your time. Also, I began work on the sister site to MouthyGirl.com. I haven’t decided on a slogan for it, or even really a title, this will be where I will introduce products that you might like, and where I’ll start linking to various deals and products that we like. I’m excited about the possibilities of it and will announce it once I’ve gotten it all ready for your viewing.

Stay tuned for Halloween contest details to come everyone and have a Happy Monday. And to my sister April, HAPPY BIRTHDAY SIS!

GirlFriday Contest Coming!

Tag: Contests, E Book, Entertainment, GirlFridayMouthyGirl @ 5:28 am

Yesterday I was over at Shoemoney reading a post and I realized that I hadn’t started my Halloween contest!

So the planning for that is under way. It’ll be a comment contest and depending on how long it takes me to find a sponsor, or several, it might go for one or two weeks.

For it to be a Halloween contest it has to wrap up on Halloween night. Or at least that’s the way I think it will go…we’ll see as I’m still in the planning stages, you definitely want to check back frequently. Plus, I’m leaving for a cruise on November 1st and may not be able to communicate and declare a winner from the ship.

If you would like to sponsor this contest, contact me at MouthyGirl at gmail dot com and we’ll discuss the details.

I am so glad it’s Friday, we’ve been running around all week, last night I finally got to see Iron Man which is a KICK ASS movie! I am so impressed with Marvel’s new movie productions, they are also responsible for the latest Batman movie that gave us all a new look at Batman.

I read somewhere that Marvel didn’t really appreciate the portrayals made before of their characters so they’ve taken it into their own hands. I like it, so I’ll definitely be seeing the next Marvel movie that comes out as well.

Since I couldn’t think of any music videos to post and the ones I did think of wouldn’t let me embed the video, I decided to give you some funny (read: raunchy) jokes instead.

Happy Friday everyone!

Personality and Music Tastes Linked!

Tag: Contests, Curious, Entertainment, Just FunMouthyGirl @ 8:48 am

I came across this article over the weekend, and linked to it Sunday but didn’t talk about it. I don’t know if any of you looked at this article or not, however small it’s packed with great information. Apparently after doing a massive study it has been found that certain music tastes can speak to the personality of a person. While surely this is not the rule, it definitely takes away some of the misconceptions about the people who appreciate certain types of music.

A study by a psychology professor has found links between personality and music taste.

The Heriot-Watt university professor Adrian North said: “We have always suspected a link between music taste and personality. This is the first time that we’ve been able to look at it in real detail. No-one has ever done this on this scale before.

“People do actually define themselves through music and relate to other people through it but we haven’t known in detail how music is connected to identity.”

According to the study heavy metal fans are gentle, indie music listeners lack self-esteem and lovers of pop music are uncreative.

He found that country and western fans are hard-working, rap fans outgoing and jazz and classical music supporters are innovative and bursting with self-confidence.

Contrary to the stereotype, heavy metal fans are gentle and at ease with themselves but they tend not to be hardworking.

Those who listen to heavy metal and classical music share character traits of being creative, at ease and introverted.

But classical music fans have high self-esteem while heavy rock fans lack self-belief.

More than 36,000 people around the globe took part in the survey, the biggest of its type ever conducted.

They were asked to rate 104 musical styles in the study and were also questioned on aspects of their personality.

Heavy metal has always been sort of a dark stepchild of the music industry, while that says nothing of it’s revenue because it’s a multi-million dollar industry, those who favor heavy metal music tend to be viewed suspiciously.

So if you’re eclectic and like all kinds of music, does it mean you have a well rounded personality, with several traits of different types, all within one person? I think so.

I like every kind of music there is unless it puts me to sleep or is full of shit like classical (puts me to sleep), rap (full of crap mostly, but not all), and christian music. I believe that there’s a lot of mystery in religion and it seems stupid that faith in this story told by men only is what we must have to make it to Heaven… I have my doubts about that.

I didn’t say that to start a religious debate or to get anyone to decide I’m your cause and you’re going to convert me, I just said that as far as music tastes are concerned, I don’t like to be fed BS. I don’t mean to be crass, but unless Jesus Christ himself came down here and said “Hi I’m Jesus, I am the Son of God, believe in me and all your sins will be forgiven and I got to witness a sea parting or something, I’m having a hard time believing that this world is what the bible says it is, or will be. Oh yes, I’ve read it, on my own and understood, I don’t need someone to feed me their personally motivated interpretation translate.

I’m glad these kinds of studies are being done though, to delve into the different conceptions people have about each other is revealing and at the same time a learning experience. I think it’s a shame to judge and expect certain things out of people you do not know, especially when that judgment is based on sight, not conversation or interaction.

What’s your take on this study? Do you agree or disagree? Why?

Monday Morning Mojo

Tag: Contests, Entertainment, Just FunMouthyGirl @ 6:11 am

Today we’re having a double whammy..not only will we have videos to get the morning started, but we’re also having voting for the Winner of the Week. I was working over the weekend and while I wrote for the site, I didn’t complete a post until Sunday night.

This morning I’m thinking a little tropical music will get us all in a great mood..

More tropical music…

I have this soundtrack and the movie. Love it. My favorite part is where Lucy chases down Ula and beats him with the bat, if you haven’t seen it, you really should. Adam Sandler is pretty good with the romantic comedy genre.

Now let’s shift gears to something a little more heartbeat rousing..

Alright then…

For the votes…we have those that didn’t win last week, DoubleAgentGirl, Rubyo and FemaleProdigy.

Ruby

Ruby

Female Prodigy

Female Prodigy

This week we have two new entries along with the former:

Cast your vote in the comments here until Tuesday night, I’ll name the winner on Wednesday.

Good Luck everyone!

Hey Did YOU Know I’m Kick Ass?

Tag: Contests, Entertainment, Just Fun, Mouthy GirlsMouthyGirl @ 9:14 pm

I have been branded a Kick Ass Blogger by Susan over at LilMomThatCould. I can’t say I disagree with her, and she would know because it takes one to know one.

The award originated from Mammadawg.com, so head over there for the code.

Kick Ass Blogger Award

Now I need to brand five more bloggers with the Kick Ass Blogger award. It shall it be…

FatGrrl.com is a new favorite of mine, she is sassy and definitely Kick Ass. Another new blog I’m reading lately is thanks to FatGrrl Chubby Pigeon…I can’t describe it…you just have to check her out. I can’t leave out CardioGirl, always a pleasant visit.

A blog I just found today that is massively entertaining, poking fun at everything and anything…Deliciously Tastless this site lives up to its name and cannot be described, it’s like a train wreck, you can’t stop staring. Or like this where you wanna keep watching until something happens.

I’m throwing in this link for shits and giggles because it’s a great article, and makes damn good sense. And this too just because I’m feeling a little crazy today…must be this cold.

Now for the fifth blogger to be bestowed the Kick Ass Blogger award is Dazd and Confused from Here a fun blog I stop by and that you should check out too.

I’m sad to say several of the bloggers I wanted to link to are either no longer blogging or their sites are down. Either way it’s sad for me and you because they were great.

Now my Kick Ass Blogger self is gonna go lay down. I’ve come down with something and I sound like I’m using a lot of d’s when I talk and I can’t breathe. Must be some ragweed in the area….

Monday Mojo will be our belated voting post. I’ve just gotten another photo for the contest just today, so tomorrow come back and vote on the Winner of the Week!

GirlFriday Vote for Winner of the Week!

Tag: Contests, Entertainment, GirlFriday, Just Fun, Mouthy GirlsMouthyGirl @ 7:52 am

It’s time to vote for the Winner of the Week in the “I Don’t Do Mornings Contest.”

Without further ado…let’s kick it off with a favorite song of mine, while I was trying to think of a good song to go with our voting today, Rachel suggested this and immediately I went after a version I could share. So here it is:

Great song eh? I love it. You can’t help but bob your head to that. It. Just. Rocks. So far we haven’t had that many photo submissions, but nevertheless, it’s off to a great start. Let me just say thank you to all my twitter friends who have entered the contest, next to each entrants’ name this week, I’ll put their twitter name, so you can look them up if you like.

The first person to offer up a picture for this contest was DoubleAgentGirl (@DoubleAgentGirl):

After that I got a few more great photos, my first submission was Ruby (@RubyO), then I received a submission from FemaleProdigy (@FemaleProdigy), and finally, the most recent submission brought an immediate smile to my face, Rachel’s submission(@MommyTalkerRach):

The gallery is not in order of submission but, all the same, there are four photos to vote on: DoubleAgentGirl, RubyO, FemaleProdigy and MommyTalkerRach.

The voting will be done by commenting - and I encourage all entrants to encourage people to vote for them, all you have to do to vote is put the name of the person you vote for in the comments, the one with the most votes by Sunday, August 31 at 6 p.m. Central Standard Time wins the Winner of the Week contest. It’s that simple.

Or you can vote in the poll I just created:

free polls Who’s got the best photo for the caption, “I Don’t Do Mornings” ?
DoubleAgentGirl
RubyO
FemaleProdigy
MommyTalkerRach

The winner gets a link in my blogroll and I’ll even put a badge up if you have one. I’m so nice.

Update **** - It just ocurred to me that those of you that don’t run a website will get virtually nothing out of being the Winner of the Week. So to sweeten the pot, but not give it all away, the Winner of the Week if they run a website or not will get a surprise gift in the mail when they contact me with their address information. Those with a website will get the surprise gift as well as a link from my site for a month.

I Don’t Do Mornings Contest

Tag: Contests, Entertainment, Just FunMouthyGirl @ 7:35 am

You ever wake up and just want to growl? I do. Like today. I get the most pleasant wake up a person could ask for, no rude alarm clock or anything like that it’s the sweet face of dear hubby in the mornings waking me up. That’s wonderful.

However, these last two nights of sleep have been particularly good and restful, where I sleep through the night and don’t wake up at all. Nights like these are rare for me, I wake up constantly through the night usually. So when I get to rest this way when it’s time to wake up, it’s really hard for me not to go back to that place of no bills, worries or problem that we all love. Sleep is so comforting.

But damned if these paychecks aren’t important too, so I had to get up today and so did you and that’s what led you here, I’m part of your routine. (I’m so digging that by the way, you know who you are!)

But the meat of this contest is this…that look you get in the morning, when you’d rather not deal with anything and you look like the covers are the only thing you want on you, that snapshot of your face (or your loved ones) might win you $50 smackeroonies.

Oh yeah. I want the mad face, grumpy face, no caffeine yet face. The one that makes people who don’t know you laugh and realize we are all human, like this one of @DoubleAgentGirl (a bud from Twitter):

Or this one of Khalik Sheikh Mohammed when he was arrested in the middle of the night by Americans for his terrorist activities:

Sucks to be him doesn’t it? LOL, couldn’t help but share that photo, I can hear a thick Arabic accent saying, “I don’t do mornings!”, ROFLMAO!

There’s been endless speculation about DoubleAgentGirl’s involvement in the capture of this terrorist however, our formal statement is that we have no statement.

So here’s how it’s gonna play out, you guys are going to submit your photos that follow the theme “I Don’t Do Mornings”, each Friday (8-29, 9-5, 9-12) for three weeks I’m putting the photos submitted up for a vote from the readers on which picture best fits that caption, ideally each week there will be one clear winner. Each Friday’s winner will be held over for the fourth week of voting and will get a mention here as well as the Winner of the Week and gain entry to my High Profile BlogRoll for a whole month!

In the fourth week, on September 19th we will hold the voting for the ultimate winner of the three Winners of the Week. That winner will win the $50 Grand Prize Gift Card!

You can submit the photos to MouthyGirl@Gmail.com.

Get started now the first drawing is this Friday!
