Monday Night Mojo Appreciating Old Music Redone

Tag: Entertainment, Monday MojoMouthyGirl @ 6:23 pm

I got my hands on some music today, I’ve heard some of their stuff before and knew I liked it. Me First and the Gimme Gimme’s are the group I’m talking about. I got their latest cd, circa 2006, but still the latest and am diggin’ it.

I grew up listening to country music and liking it for the most part but outgrew it. The awesome thing is that Me First and the Gimme Gimme’s took the old stuff that I liked, because of the general song quality just tired of the old tired sound, and they turned it into punk. You might call them a cover band, but that wouldn’t do them justice.

You can find them here. Choose between their website and their myspace page. This is the specific album I’m listening to right now, and love it.

That is all.

Tag: Monday MojoMouthyGirl @ 5:48 am

Good Morning all. I don’t have a whole lot to say today except that I feel like absolute shit. I’m exhausted, I didn’t sleep well last night.

Here’s a video I got from Rachel over at MommyTalk.com:

And just in case you missed it…the Sarah Palin rap skit on Saturday Night Live last week. Very funny, don’t miss this!

Happy Monday all!

Monday Morning Mojo Happy Birthday Sis!

Tag: Contests, Entertainment, Just Fun, Life, Love, Monday Mojo, Mouthy Girls, VideosMouthyGirl @ 5:30 am

Today is another Monday, Columbus Day even, which is a day that we celebrate Christopher Columbus discovering the “New World” that would come to be the country we know and love today. I won’t tell you how old she’ll be but she is my older sister.

This week will be very eventful as not only is it my sister’s birthday today, tomorrow my new nephew will be born. One of my younger sisters is going in to have a C-section and we’ll have another addition to the family.

Yesterday, my family, my sister and her family and my Dad and Stepmom all went out for lunch. It was fun, and it’s always nice to spend time with family. We get caught up in our own lives and sometimes forget to stop and get together to catch up. Before you know it the kids are grown and we’re wondering where the time went and reminiscing about when gas was under $1 a gallon. Those were the days.

We are counting down to our cruise on November 1st, getting excited, a little nervous. I’m a little shy. Hey don’t act so surprised, it’s easy to sit down and type out my thoughts and share with you what’s going on in my life, because you don’t have a face when I’m typing, you do when you comment and begin to interact with me here, but until then, I’m just writing to Wordpress. Any further thought beyond that I’m afraid would produce the problem of writer’s block. So the idea of meeting people and sitting with strangers at dinner and all that kind of has me a little wierded out.

So in honor of my older sister getting older today, here’s a song for her.

Ha Ha!

Here’s a song that is special to she and I because it was always a song that reminded us of our little sister..

Finally, a song for my nephew…

I love that song, it’s very true to how I feel about my son, and nieces and nephews. Life has so much to offer that you can’t help but hope that they get to experience the absolute best of everything, and the least experience of pain and trials possible. As children we often underestimate the harsh realities of adulthood because our parents, rightfully, try to shield us from their trials, the things that make them worry. All too often as youngsters we were so busy looking forward to the freedoms of adulthood that we forgot the freedoms of childhood were right in front of us.

Additionally, this weekend I added a few things in the administration panel of MouthyGirl.com to make galleries easier and to add polls to the sidebar, so polls will become a regular sidebar item. They’re a great way to find out what you think without asking for a lot of your time. Also, I began work on the sister site to MouthyGirl.com. I haven’t decided on a slogan for it, or even really a title, this will be where I will introduce products that you might like, and where I’ll start linking to various deals and products that we like. I’m excited about the possibilities of it and will announce it once I’ve gotten it all ready for your viewing.

Stay tuned for Halloween contest details to come everyone and have a Happy Monday. And to my sister April, HAPPY BIRTHDAY SIS!

Monday Morning Mojo & Fossil Review

Tag: Entertainment, Just Fun, Monday Mojo, Opinion, Product ReviewMouthyGirl @ 8:58 am

We’ve got the right stuff today don’t we? It’s raining here, but that’s refreshing for some reason today, rain brings a clean smell to the air, I like it. So I’m not discouraged by it today. Not sleepy either…yet.

Today I wanted to tell you about my recent experience with Fossil. I wanted a Fossil watch for a long time before I bought one. Since they came out I liked them and I finally spent the $60+ and bought one for myself in 2001, I hit a great sale at Foley’s and bought a nice Ralph Lauren purse that year too.

I am that rare chic that can say I have all of four purses, two are black, one is brown and one is my navy blue (looks black) Ralph Lauren purse that I bought that year. Never before had I left a store with 2 things costing over $100. That was quite the luxury.

Anyways, so I wore the watch every day until around January (that’s seven years of trouble free watch bliss) when I took my watch to the jeweler to see what was wrong with it, I figured just a battery even though I’d recently had it replaced. But sadly the jeweler came back and told me the winding mechanism was broken so the watch was unable to keep time.

However, he told me I had bought wisely because Fossil has one of the best warranty programs around. It costs $27.00 to send the watch to Fossil (not including your shipping costs) which is here in Dallas to their service center and they will refurbish it for that price.

You can have your specific problems fixed, or just have them refurbish it. You have to fill out a form and send it to them, but that’s not a big hassle.

I’m a big supporter of Texas companies so I was pleased to discover that Fossil is a Texas company, headquartered in Richardson, Texas.

So I sent my watch in finally a few weeks ago, I’ve known I needed to send it in for over seven months, but I put it on the back burner because I had a cool Dickies watch that hubby bought me to maintain my sanity i.e. allowing me to still know what time it is.

Friday I received an E-Gift Certificate from Fossil in the mail for $75 with a letter detailing that because they no longer make the parts to fix my watch they were sending me what they deemed the replacement value was of the watch + $25 to ensure any shipping and handling costs would not make this inconvenient for me. WOW!

My beloved Fossil Blue could not be repaired. Naturally I mourned for a few seconds but feeling like I had won the lottery I immediately got on Fossil.com and started shopping for my new watch, truly feeling spoiled. I’m a sucker for customer service. I mean that, it’s why I’m still with T-Mobile even though the service has really pissed me off at times.

If a company has great customer service, 9 times out of 10 I’m going to keep coming back, even if I’ve had a bad experience. That’s because I know if I complain, which I rarely do, they will do whatever they can do to fix my problem. Who wouldn’t love that?

So Fossil has made me a big huge fan, one that will sing it to the masses, or post a glowing review on her website and encourage everyone she knows, or doesn’t know, to buy Fossil watches, bags, purses, earrings, belts and so on and so forth. I recommend Fossil to everyone, they have beautiful dressy watches, great casual ones, delicious accessories, I mean their selection really runs the gamut.

Check em out and send some love their way, find some jewelry or something you know you won’t be able to live without which is something they make very easy.

But now to the music you’ve been waiting for…First up…”Bad Fish” by the genius group that is sorely missed Sublime:

Thought we’d toss up Santeria as well I love that one too.

Here’s a link to “Come As You Are” by Nirvana because that’s all I could get. Now as an homage to Sublime, I’m going to post some Slightly Stoopid, which I’d never heard of until Rachel (who we all know from MommyTalk.com) mentioned them this morning when talking about Sublime. But I am intrigued and I think you will be too…

Can’t wait to get home to hear more! Happy Monday everyone and see ya tomorrow!

Monday Morning Mojo and My List

Tag: Entertainment, Monday MojoMouthyGirl @ 5:17 am

My list consists of reasons I should have money. You’re thinking….oh the nerve! Gimme a chance. You see money doesn’t make the person…but money can certainly make the person more generous and benevolent.

So on with my list of reasons I should be rich.

1. Because I would be so good with lots of money; vs. so bad with so little.
2. Because I donate to worthy causes even if I don’t have a lot…so if I did have a lot, I would just donate that much more.
3. I would love to pay for the college educations of all my nieces and nephews and future grands so that I could take that worry from my siblings and my son.
4. I would go back to school full time and earn my doctorate. In something that will help the masses.
5. I could inspire other people to see why money doesn’t have to be something hoarded and how sharing your wealth invites it to come back.
6. I could lead by example and show that money doesn’t have to corrupt you.
7. I would run for President, and not care what anyone thought of me.
8. I would be like Oprah.
9. I would be like Oprah.
10. I would be like Oprah.

I mean, everyone loves Oprah right? I thought that should count for three. Because I really would be like her, I’d even do my own version of “The Big Give”. Seriously. I would let some cheesy “Dr.” use Euphemisms that are archaic to parlay himself into a career, off of my coattails. But I’d never say anything bad about beef.

Of course, I highly doubt I’ll achieve the riches I so desire, but I will dream.

Happy Monday! I invite you all to comment below and leave your list of reasons you should be rich. It doesn’t have to be ten reasons.

Hope you all have a great day today, see you here tomorrow!

Monday Morning Mojo My Favorite Season is Here!

Tag: Entertainment, Life, Monday Mojo, Progress, Strength & EnduranceMouthyGirl @ 6:51 am

I love the Fall and Spring seasons above and beyond the other two. I should say one because Texas doesn’t really experience Winter like the rest of the country. It’s shocking when we get to see snow here. But this is the season where the weather starts getting out of the 100+ temperatures here and I love that! Last week because of Hurricane Ike the temperature didn’t break 82 all week, which was a welcome change from the summer heat. What’s your favorite season of the year?

Did you have a good weekend? I visited with some of my family that came down to visit and saw a new cousin that was born just a short while ago, she’s a cutie. My youngest sister celebrated her one year wedding anniversary this past weekend, she and her hubby are due back in town today, I’m sure they had a great time.

Last week was an eye opener for me, I’ve realized that life is too short to waste time wondering and waiting for my future to present itself to me in digestible form. I’ve decided that I’m going to run at life full throttle and if anything gets in my way, well then it’ll just be that much easier to overcome because I’m already speeding towards it. It would be stupid to stay in the way.

Don’t you love metaphorically speaking? So let’s kick off this week, I’m going to share one of my favorite songs with you, it’s not a real video but someone made it with scrolling lyrics…it’s nice…

I’m a HUGE fan of 3 Doors Down, so of course I like it. Now I’m going to throw us back into the 80’s for a minute, specifically 1982…

Now…for a song about individuality and taking your life into your own hands….living your life.

Big fan of Rihanna as well. I hope this gets your day going like it did mine. Happy Monday everyone!

Monday Morning Mojo featuring Sarah Palin, Maroon 5 & Rihanna

Tag: Entertainment, Just Fun, Monday MojoMouthyGirl @ 5:37 am

Seems like I didn’t have a day off this weekend, worked some on Saturday and did some other work on Sunday from home. I’ve been so busy! In case you all haven’t noticed, I’ve decided that MouthyGirl.com wasn’t quite living up to it’s url name if you know what I mean. So the last two posts were just a sampling of what more is to come.

In fact, most of the opinionated posts I intend to write I end up taming down because I worry about how you’ll take it. So, no offense intended, but I’m not gonna worry about that anymore. I’m gonna write what I feel, what pisses me off and what I think probably does the same to you.

Let’s start today with a parody video of Sarah Palin, by none other than the incredible look alike, Tina Fey. This is hilarious, you don’t want to miss it.

Wasn’t that priceless? LMAO! She does an excellent Palin no? Okay, take a deep breath and collect yourself, I know that was funny. Now for a video that plays like a movie by one of my favorite bands of all time…Maroon 5.

Let me just say, thank you Maroon 5 for making your YouTube videos embedable. If that’s a word. The red line underneath it suggests that it is not, but I’m rollin’ with it anyways. This is a bonus link to “She Will be Loved” by Maroon 5 as well. One of my favorite songs ever since the first album came out.

Now for a song, also about deception by Rihanna, who recently teamed up with Maroon 5 for a great song that I may go dig up the link for…. But here’s Take a Bow from Rihanna….

Here’s their video together…very hot!

Okay guys, hope you enjoyed today’s edition of Monday Morning Mojo…I wanna hit a shout out to the Snakeskin Cowboy in Richardson, I hope you too dig the videos and have a great Monday!

Happy Monday everyone! Be back here tomorrow, same channel, same Mouthy DJ!
