MouthyGirl is…
MouthyGirl is a persona that I, Sabrina, took on a few years ago, quite accidentally when I was looking for new blog digs. My very first blog led me to want a wider forum, a wider subject base that was unlimited in it’s reach and potential. I was originally looking for something else and only thought of this because what I wanted wasn’t available. The minute the name came to me, the rest was history. I don’t write to a niche topic here. I’m like JackFM, I write what I want and I don’t care if you read it, I write with a niche perspective.
Over the years as I’ve written here and most recently in my sort of self imposed hiatus I have decided that MouthyGirl was always me, she has always been inside, only sharing herself sometimes. I don’t claim to be much of anything beyond dedicated, if anything I’m a damaged person and MouthyGirl allows me to get away with saying things that I wouldn’t normally say, and I get away with it.
In person I am humble, friendly and a great listener, letting everyone else take center stage. As MouthyGirl I am bossy, opinionated and ready to tell anyone where they can take themselves, and I will hog the spotlight. I have always craved the kind of attention and notoriety that famous people enjoy, but lacked the confidence and frankly, talent to assume the role of a famous person.
But this….this is where my star shines. When I first started this site, a friend who taught me a lot about blogging told me the one thing he would recommend was that I not censor myself. I am guilty of doing exactly that far too much. Out of concern for the people in my life that I sometimes write about and my relationships with them, I have censored some of my writings and not upheld that sacred standard that MouthyGirl suggests. That is over.
MouthyGirl is an alter ego of sorts that I am learning to embrace, with all of the consequences that may ensue. Join me for the ride won’t you?
let it all hang out sister! i am ready for whatever you have to dish out haha!
I appreciate the hats off, but you are either a writer or you’re not in my opinion, you love it or hate it, kinda like math.
I do have foot in mouth syndrome and its most often because I’m brutally honest and will not lie just to save ego.
It could get wild around here.
I started my own blog (www.wordpress.mommaserene.com or whatever…it’s mommaserene’s blog), inspired by you, ms. wonderful mouthygirl. Now, I barely have time to write on it, but I like the idea of letting “followers” in on what’s in my head, and hats off to you for the inspiration.
I’ve been blogging for a long time, but it used to be more like a public diary, and it really tested a lot of relationships. Now I’m more apt to keep that stuff private and use personal experiences as a springboard for more universal topics. Still, though, I do have a case of foot-in-mouth syndrome that surfaces now and again.
